Short Description
This foundational programme explores the fundamental aspects of humour, its multifaceted importance in modern life, and how you can genuinely and deliberately develop your own unique sense of humour. Through the three core areas of humour appreciation, humour attitude, and humour expression, you’ll be introduced to practical tools, fresh perspectives, and supportive ways to cultivate and express your sense of humour to enrich your life and world.
Programme Overview:
The Sense of Humour Programme Level 1 is a fascinating and practical introduction to understanding and developing your sense of humour through three core areas: humour appreciation, humour attitude, and humour expression.
Humour appreciation helps you develop a deeper understanding of what humour really is, why it matters more than we tend to think, and the multifaceted role it plays in human life. Here we explore humour not just as entertainment or light relief, but as a fundamental human capacity that supports wellbeing, relationships, and overall life enjoyment. You’ll also gain a broader understanding of the role humour has played in human thought, culture, and philosophy over time.
Humour attitude is about cultivating a more humorous approach to living. This includes fostering qualities such as mental flexibility, originality, and playfulness. We also explore how developing your humour attitude can help you respond to challenges with greater adaptability, courage, and resilience.
Humour expression helps you develop your ability to use humour constructively across all aspects of life, especially in communication, problem-solving, and creative endeavours. You’ll learn some of the practical skills, formulas, and techniques comedians use to write and share comedy, with supportive opportunities to apply these skills, build confidence, and move through the fears and hesitations that can get in the way of self-expression.
Above all, the programme helps you develop your humour intelligence, the lesser-known and cheekier sibling of emotional intelligence. Indeed, the programme helps you cultivate both of these human intelligences and apply them in ways that enrich your life and the world around you.
